Mijas

The Costa del Sol Racecourse occupies a hill-top site 2km inland from Fuengirola.

It boasts a 1700m fibrous sand track (1 Mile 1 Furlong in old money!) and inside this a 1600m sand track (1 Mile). At present the horses race clockwise around the track with the finish central to the terrace.

The terrace has extensive track-side tiered seating and behind this is a wide palm lined terrace leading to the bars, restaurants, betting terminals and the VIP suite. Most areas are fitted with closed circuit television to allow both live racing and replays to be viewed in comfort.

A 45 room hotel is also situated on-site

The course has stabling for 450 racehorses as well as additional facilities for show-jumpers.

Currently 10 licenced trainers are based on the course with the track being utilised as a training gallop during non-racing days. These trainers provide training fo more than 150 owners with stables varying from 1 to 20 horses.

The course boasts extensive on-site free car-parking, a dog hotel (dogs are not admitted to the course) and modern turnstiles designed to speedily admit patrons.

The course is served by taxis from Mijas and with an official taxi stop outside the gates, taxis are routinely available at the end of each race meeting.
